Ortom Blasts El-Rufai, Says Kaduna Governor Is One of the Real Enemies of Nigeria

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state has described his counterpart in Kaduna as one of the enemies of Nigeria.
Governor Ortom made the claim in a statement sent to Legit.ng by his spokesman, Terver Akase on Saturday, May 8.
The Benue governor was reacting to a statement credited to El-Rufai who accused Ortom of using the insecurity in his state to attack the federal government.

The Kaduna state governor further said Ortom was using the tactics in order to cover up what he termed as the Benue state governor’s failure.
The statement noted that El-Rufai’s attack on Governor Ortom is merely to make him look good before the presidency.
Governor Ortom further accused El-Rufai of promoting insecurity in the country through his utterances.
Part of the statement read:
“Nasir el-Rufai is a sycophant, ethnic champion, and religious bigot who hates anyone who does not share the same faith with him. He is among the very few persons who have misled President Muhammadu Buhari.
“El-Rufai is one of the real enemies of this country who do not hide their divisive tendencies by elevating nepotism and ethnicity above the good values that have held Nigeria together over the decades.”
Meanwhile, the Benue government, on Thursday, May 6 approved the establishment of vigilante groups to combat the high rate of insecurity in the state.
Governor Samuel Ortom disclosed this when he briefed journalists attached to his office on the outcome of the expanded stakeholders’ meeting held at the new banquet hall of the Government House, Makurdi.
Ortom said renewed attacks on the people by armed herdsmen had overstretched security agencies, stressing that his government had decided to enforce the law to establish vigilante groups.
In a related development, Governor Hope Uzodinma has assured residents of Imo that their safety is guaranteed despite the pocket of attacks witnessed in the state in recent times.
The governor made the declaration on Wednesday, May 5 when he presented vehicles and gadgets to security agencies in the state.
Governor Uzodinma also warned criminal elements to steer clear of Imo, saying his administration will not condone any act of criminality in the state anymore.
