The 29-year old revealed to the PSG club website that he decided to put pen to paper because he ‘felt happy’ at the French capital.

The confirmation of the contract extension also came after PSG Sporting Director Leandro said in March that he was hopeful the Brazilian would renew his deal.

According to football insider Fabrizio Romano, Neymar’s new contract will see him earn up to €30million a season after taxes and add-ons.

The superstar also has a huge bonus clause if he manages to win the Champions League with PSG.

Speaking to the club website, Neymar opened up on how he has ‘evolved over the years at PSG, a club he says he is very happy to be in. He said:

“I have grown as a person here, as a human being and as a player, too.
"I have learned a lot. Things have happened that should not have happened. We had fights, a few sad times, but I am happy and proud to be part of the history of Paris St-Germain."

Neymar was in the final year of the five-year deal he signed when he joined the French giants in a world-record £200million deal in 2017.

At PSG, he has scored 85 times and recorded 51 assists in 112 appearances, although his spell has sometimes been marred by injuries.

PSG are currently in the race for a fourth consecutive Ligue 1 title, although they train league leaders Lille by fourth points with a game in hand.

The Champions League seemed to be one of their main focus this season but they once again fell short this year after being eliminated by a strong Manchester City side in the semifinals.

In terms of silverware, Neymar said he “hopes to put many more trophies on the shelf for PSG."

Legit.ng earlier reported that in a bid to bolster their squad ahead of the coming season, Chelsea are preparing to launch bid for Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski.

With the Blues hunting for a new centre-forward this summer, Lewandowski has now joined Erling Haaland on top of their target list.

It was gathered that the Stamford Bridge side could be forced to cough up at least £130million if they are serious about Haaland as Borussia Dortmund have set his price.
