Tension as Gunmen Abduct Miyetti Allah's Chairman in Kogi, Police React

- The spate of kidnapping in the country has spread to the north-central state of Kogi

- This is as some gunmen dressed in military uniform kidnapped Wakili Damina, the leader of the herders' association in Kogi

- The police command in Kogi state has confirmed the development

Wakili Damina, the chairman of the Miyetti-Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in Kogi state, has been abducted, multiple reports confirmed.

The state secretary of MACBAN, Adamu Abubakar, disclosed the ugly development in Lokoja on Tuesday, May 4, Vanguard reported.

Legit.ng gathers, however, that Damina was abducted on Friday, April 30 by some armed men dressed in army camouflage.

According to Abubakar, eyewitnesses said the abductors “forcefully” took away the chairman from his house, Daily Nigerian also reported.

Abubakar said he had informed the state commissioner of police and the state government through the special adviser on security matters to the governor, Jerry Omodara.

When contacted, the state commissioner of police, Ede Ayuba, confirmed the development but said that the police are yet to locate the whereabouts of the chairman.

However, Ayuba said the matter was not officially reported to the Divisional Police Officer in charge of the area where the incident happened, making it difficult to get the necessary details.

In another report, unknown gunmen have ended the life of a commissioner in the Kogi State Pension Board, Hon. Adebayo Solomon (Akeweje).

He was killed on Saturday evening, May 1, along Yagba – Ilorin Road in Kogi state.

Solomon's vehicle was reportedly shot at but his driver, who also got hit, managed to drive it to Egbe town before he eventually collapsed.

The commissioner's killers also reportedly kidnapped some unidentified persons.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that unknown gunmen abducted Hajia Salamatu Ahmadu, the 78-year-old mother of a Niger state lawmaker, Alhaji Bello Ahmed Agwara.

The elderly woman was abducted at about 9pm on Thursday, April 29. Some heavily armed gunmen who came in four motorcycles had stormed the country home of the Niger state House of Assembly member in Agwara town.

Eyewitnesses disclosed that the criminals began to shoot sporadically as people scampered for safety.
