Daredevil Gunmen Strike Again, Kill Kogi Commissioner, LG Chairman Missing

Unknown gunmenmen have ended the life of a commissioner in the Kogi State Pension Board, Hon. Adebayo Solomon (Akeweje).
He was killed on Saturday evening, May 1, along Yagba – Ilorin Road in Kogi state.
According to a report by Leadership, other persons were kidnapped by the same attackers.
Solomon's vehicle was reportedly shot at but his driver, who also got hit, managed to drive it to Egbe town before he eventually collapsed.
It was learnt that the remains of the commissioner had been deposited at the ECWA Hospital mortuary in Egbe.
Whereabouts of LG chairman unknown
The Punch reports that the whereabouts of the chairman of Yagba West local government area, Pius Kolawole, is yet to be known.
Kolawole was reportedly with Solomon when the incident happened.
Confirming the report, the state police commissioner, Ayuba Ede, said “the incident took place at Eruku general area of Kwara state”.
According to him, an investigation is in progress.

Lawmaker's mother abducted
Bandits struck in Niger state on Thursday night, April 29, and whisked some people away, including the 78-year-old mother of a House of Assembly member, Alhaji Bello Ahmed Agwara.
It was gathered that the armed men made their way to the private residence of the lawmaker where they grabbed his mother and some other villagers to an unknown destination.
2 police officers killed
The south has also got its share of the violence as two police officers met their unfortunate death in the hands of gunmen who stormed a police station in Ikono LGA of Akwa Ibom state on Saturday, May 1.
A female police officer also suffered injuries during the attack while five vehicles parked at the station’s premises were set ablaze by the criminals.
