Zulum, Ortom, Senators Cry Out, Demand Action From Buhari As 21 More Nigerians Killed

Following the incessant abduction and killings of innocent Nigerians, some governors and senators have expressed great concerns about the ugly incidents.
The Punch reports that the prominent Nigerians on Tuesday, April 27, asked President Muhammadu Buhari to seek foreign help in order to end insecurity in the country.

Legit.ng gathered that the lawmakers while debating a motion on activities of Boko Haram in Niger state, described insecurity in the country as not only terrible but also shameful.
Channels TV reports that the former deputy Senate president, Ike Ekweremadu, said any government that could not protect its citizens had lost its “legitimacy.”
Ekweremadu, who represents Enugu West at the Senate, said the federal government should not be ashamed of seeking foreign support.
He said:
“Any government that cannot protect its citizens has lost legitimacy. We should not be ashamed to seek support. The time has come for Niger state to shut down and protect its citizens. It’s time to shut down this Senate and go into an executive session to find a solution to this problem.”
In his comments, a senator representing Niger North, Bima Enagi, said Nigerians could not continue to bear the pain of women being molested and forcibly married to Boko Haram terrorists.
Enagi, who said insecurity in the country was terrible, stated that they could no longer allow Boko Haram to hoist flags in Nigerian territories.
The senator noted:
“We cannot continue to allow Boko Haram to hoist flags in Nigerian territories. What is our army doing? What are all security agencies doing?"
In an exclusive interview with the newspaper, Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno state; his Niger state counterpart, Sani Bello and Samuel Ortom of Benue state, warned that insecurity in the country was getting out of control.
They urged the federal government to act fast as 21 people were killed across the country on Tuesday, April 27.
Zulum said the president should be told the truth about insecurity in the country.
The Benue governor on his part decried herdsmen’s attack on the Abegana area of the state where seven persons were killed on Tuesday.
In his comments, Bello said Boko Haram was scaring people away from Niger state communities.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that a former vice president, Atiku Abubakar, warned the federal government that the increase in the cases of abduction is becoming a catastrophe that must be decisively dealt with before it snowballs into a major crisis.
It was reported that he stated that the recent abduction of an unspecified number of undergraduates of the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, Benue state, is one abduction too many.
