Nigerian youths have been warned not to waste their lives believing in the power of a herbalist. The call was given by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The party also warned the youths not to allow themselves to be used as tools in a war against any tribe or community in Nigeria, Punch reports.
APC disclosed this following the death of a commander of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Ikonso, who was killed during an encounter with some Nigerian security operatives.
The party wrote:
“Dear Nigerian youth. Don’t allow anyone to send you to war with another Nigerian, community, state or tribe. Those things native doctors would give you cannot protect you. Military technology of today is beyond our native doctors who have not made any advancement in 100yrs!”
“War destroys communities and families and often disrupts the development of the social and economic fabric of nations. The effects of war include long-term physical and psychological harm to children and adults, as well as reduction in material and human capital.
“Armed conflict has important indirect negative consequences on infrastructure, public health provision, and social order. These indirect consequences are often overlooked and unappreciated.”
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that more details have emerged about the killing of Ikonson a leader of the Eastern Security Network (ESN), a militia group linked to the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB).
Ikonson was identified as the vice president-designate of IPOB. Security forces said he commanded series of violent attacks on security personnel and formations in the southeast and south-south of the country.
A spokesperson for the Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Mohammed Yerima disclosed in a statement that a combined team of security forces led by troops of the army were involved in the operation that killed the militia leader.
In another development, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has claimed no administration in the history of Nigeria has done more for Nigeria than the present government of President Muhammadu Buhari.
This was stated by the acting national chairman of the party, Mai Mala Buni on Tuesday, April 20 in Abuja.
Buni, who is also the Yobe state governor, made the comments at the maiden edition of the media interactive session of the APC Professional Forum.
