Just In: Kidnappers Strike in Another Southwest State, Abduct 18 Passengers

- Some unknown gunmen have staged a mass abduction in the Ibarapa area of Oyo state

- The gunmen kidnapped about 18 passengers between Igboora and Eruwa Road in the early hours of Thursday, April 22

- At least two known residents around the area have confirmed the sad incident

Suspected gunmen have reportedly abducted about 18 passengers from a commercial bus in the Ibarapa area of Oyo state.

The Punch reported that the passengers were coming into Oyo state from Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital when the bus conveying them was attacked.

The incident happened on Thursday morning, April 22, between Igboora and Eruwa Road, according to the secretary of Farmers Union in Ibarapa, Taiwo Adeagbo.

Although residents of the area could not ascertain the actual number of those kidnapped, the vehicle was said to be an 18-seater bus, The Nation also reported.

Legit.ng gathers that all the occupants were whisked away by the gunmen.

Adeagbo said kidnapping had become almost a daily occurrence in the area saying some residents were collaborating with outsiders to perpetrate the crime.

Another resident identified as Oladiran Oladokun also reportedly confirmed the development.

In a related development, some unknown gunmen have abducted three construction workers in Akoko northwest local government area of Ondo state.

The construction workers were said to be among those rehabilitating Ikaram to Akunnu road in the area.

The tragic incident occurred at about 6pm on Tuesday, April 20, creating serious tension and anxiety in Ikaram and Akunnu axis.

Similarly, daring bandits have abducted two nurses from the Kajuru General Hospital of Kajuru local government area of Kaduna state.

The medical director of the hospital, Dr Shingyu Shamnom, the armed hoodlums invaded the health facility early in the morning on Thursday, April 22.

He disclosed that the bandits stormed the general hospital through the fence and started shooting indiscriminately. The official said the bandits abducted the two nurses on night duty who went out to identify themselves as medical workers.
