Names of Bureau de change operators arrested for transferring funds to Boko Haram insurgents finally released

- Some prominent BDC operators have reportedly been arrested in connection with the Boko Haram insurgency

- The BDC operators, some arrested in a Kano market, were allegedly helping to transfer funds to the terrorists

- Four of the arrested BDC operators whose names have now been released are said to be relatives of two people previously jailed in Dubai over similar charges

Daily Trust in an exclusive report has released the identities of some Bureau de change operators arrested for allegedly transferring funds to Boko Haram insurgents.

Recall the presidential spokesperson Malam Garba Shehu had earlier said the federal government had arrested some Bureau de change operators who were facilitating the transfer of money to Boko Haram terrorists, adding that the details would shock Nigerians.

Shehu had said some Nigerians transferring money to the sect from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) were working with the BDC operators.

He added that the Nigerian government had already worked with the UAE to secure some convictions.

Daily Trust stated that it has now exclusively obtained a list of some of the persons arrested in connection with the incident.

The newspaper said some of the Bureau de change operators were arrested in a market in Wapa, Fagge local government area of Kano state, in March.

Prominent among the BDC operators arrested in the state are:

1. Baba Usaini

2. Abubakar Yellow (Amfani)

3. Yusuf Ali Yusuf (Babangida)

4. Ibrahim Shani

5. Auwal Fagge

6. Muhammad Lawan Sani (a gold dealer)

It was learnt that four of the arrested BDC operators are related to two persons jailed in Dubai in 2020 on similar charges.

Those arrested are reportedly being kept in military and DSS facilities in Abuja and other places.

Meanwhile, Air Marshal Oladayo Amao, the Chief of Air Staff, has expressed confidence that the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) would oust the terrorists and other criminal elements in Nigeria in no distant time.

He gave the assurance during an Easter Lunch with the personnel of 013 Quick Response Force Minna, where he commiserated with families and colleagues of the three Airmen who lost their lives in Allawa operations on Thursday, April 1.

Legit.ng gathered that Air Marshal Amao reiterated the commitment of President Muhammadu Buhari and the Nigerian Air Force towards ensuring that insurgency and armed banditry are put to an end.
