Police Orderly Killed as Suspected Bandits Attack Local Council Chairman

Shoban Tikari, the chairman of Takum local government council of Taraba state has more reasons to be thankful for his life after he escaped being killed by suspected bandits.
A report by the News Agency of Nigeria indicates that the suspects on Saturday, April 17, killed a police orderly attached to the local council boss after they opened fire on his vehicle at Dogo-Gawa village in Takum council area.
The sad incident was confirmed by the local council chairman who explained that the militia, in their numbers, launched an attack on his motorcade while on his way to Takum.
The name of the deceased policeman was not released by Tikari, however, he was one of the 67 Mobile Police Squadron, located in the area, The Guardian reports.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that soldiers of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) killed five armed bandits who attacked a community in Makurdi local government area of Benue state.
The soldiers raided the bandits’ hideouts within the borders of Benue and Nasarawa states on Saturday, April 17.
The bandits had earlier attacked Anune villagers, a rural community in the outskirts of Makurdi LGA, and allegedly killed unspecified numbers of people.
In a related development, bandits abducted a soldier in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital, and killed a police inspector in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Three persons, all of whom are women, were reportedly seized and taken away in the Onipe area Ibadan on Monday, April 13 by the outlaws.
One of the abductees, Mrs. Bola Ogunrinde, is a soldier, while the names of the other two women were given as Mrs. Temitope Okeowo and Mrs. Abosede Adebay.
Two men reported the abduction, spurring counter-terrorism and anti-kidnapping police personnel as well as local hunters and vigilantes into action.
