The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has given a counter-response to the All Progressives Congress (APC)'s stance on the establishment of Twitter's headquarter in Ghana.

According to the PDP, the APC's description of its earlier reaction to the missed opportunity reveals that the ruling party is deliberately working against the country in order to stifle free speech online among citizens.

The statement read:

"Their statement also validates apprehensions in the public space that the APC deliberately worked against the citing of Twitter headquarters in Nigeria because of their plot to forcefully regulate the use of the internet in our country."

The party added:

“A more responsive government and political party, who have the interest of the people at heart, ought to device all means possible to attract the Africa Headquarters of Twitter to our country given the huge benefits such would have served in the face of grinding unemployment which the APC administration has imposed on our nation."

Earlier, the PDP had pointed accusing fingers at the APC. In a statement on Wednesday, April 14, the PDP alleged that Nigeria, regarded as the giant of the continent, lost the grand opportunity due to misrule by the President Buhari-led administration.
