FG reveals main Cause of Power Outage, Names 8 Power Plants that Have Shutdown
- The Nigerian government has reacted to power disruptions in some power stations nationwide

The federal government has disclosed that the current power outages in parts of the country are caused by a breakdown of some National Integrated Power Plants (NIPP) supplying electricity to the national grid.
The minister of power, Sale Mamman, made the disclosure in a series of tweets on Thursday, April 15.
He named the power plants being affected by the disruption.
The minister said:
“The plants are namely, Sapele, Afam,Olonrunsogo, Omotosho, Ibom, Egbin, Alaoji and Ihovbor. The Jebba Power Plant was shut down for annual maintenance.
“Seven other integrated Power plants, namely Geregu, Sepele, Omotosho, Gbarain, Omuku, Paras and Alaoji are experiencing gas constraints while the Shiroro plant has water management problems.’’
Mamman regretted the unfortunate situation and offered his apology to all affected Nigerians for the inconveniences the power shortages have caused.

He assured citizens that the ministry is working to rectify the technical problems affecting the plants as well as resolving the gas issues to the others.
Meanwhile, some residents of the Ogudu area of Lagos state have decried what they tagged as exploitation by the electricity distribution company.
Daily Trust reported that the exorbitant estimated billing by electricity companies has continued to trigger reactions among the consumers in the state.
Legit.ng gathered that residents of Eyiaro and Taiwose streets in Ogudu parts of Lagos staged a peaceful protest to register their displeasure over the 'crazy' estimated bill.
In other news, the Nigerian government has finally approved the $1.5 billion refinery rehabilitation contract.
The approval was given following the agreement between the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and Tecnimont Spa.
The government agency and Italian company signed the rehabilitation contract of the Port Harcourt refinery amid criticism from the private sector and the public.
