Incredible Gesture as African Star Pays School Fees for 1000 Children in His Native Home
- Marvelous Nakamba’s foundation has released funds to pay school fees for 1000 pupils
- The midfielder hopes to help at least 100,000 pupils in his native Zimbabwe by the end of the year
- His foundation was formed in 2009 to help cushion the less privileged children from adversity
Aston Villa midfielder Marvellous Nakamba made his footballing influence count as he took the first steps to pay school fees for 1000 pupils in his native Zimbabwe.

Through his Marvelous Nakamba Foundation, the Aston Villa man revealed he is targeting the needy and underprivileged in his country.
A statement said:
“Following up on the Foundation pledge to ensure education to the under-privileged, the Foundation is happy to announce that it has completed the paying of school fees for 1 000 students across the country for term One, 2021.
“This has been a long-standing aim of the Foundation to ensure that we aid students and offer them a chance to their right to education.
The charitable move was carried out under the foundation’s Education Assistance Plan.
Since 1000 pupils are set to benefit from the foundation, Nakamba is aiming higher as he aims to benefit 100000 children by the end of 2021.
If everything goes according to plan, the foundation further intends to reach out to help at least 1 million children within the next four years. Nakamba said:
“We hope this gesture will go a long way in helping not only the students that benefited but also come as a relief to parents or guardians who have been struggling to raise school fees. This sits well with us, as the saying goes, ‘It takes a nation to raise a child.”
The foundation was founded in 2019 with the aim of aiding underprivileged children in Zimbabwe as Nakamba sought to help children overcome the hardships he went through himself growing up.
As a player, Nakamba, 27, began his football career with Zimbabwean clubs Highlanders and Bantu Rovers before securing a move to Nancy in France in 2012.
He spent a short time in France before making a switch to the Netherlands with Vittesse.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that Manchester United forward, Marcus Rashford, has been named GQ Magazine's Campaigner of the Year award for feeding vulnerable children.
The 23-year-old also features on the cover of the winter edition of the tabloid due to be released next week.
He started his charity project in full during the coronavirus pandemic lockdown earlier this year.
