Breaking: Anxiety as Bandits lay Siege Around Armed Forces College in Kaduna

A report by Daily Trust indicates that the premises of Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC) is being surrounded by some criminals, suspected to be bandits.
According to the report, the suspects are laying siege around the training facility for the Nigerian Armed Forces in Jaji, Igabi local government area of the state.
The development was confirmed by Air Marshal Olayinka Alade, the commandant of the college on Wednesday, April 14, when he visited the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Attahiru Ibrahim in Abuja.
Residents of the community who spoke to the newspaper said the mission of the bandits was to abduct some staff of the college and communities around the area.
A resident identifying himself as Adamu explained that the bandits have always surrounded the institution while terrorising the communities around the college.
This development is coming barely two months after a gang of gunmen kidnapped many female students of the Federal College Of Forestry Mechanisation in Birnin Gwari local government area, Kaduna state.
The tragedy has been confirmed by the state's commissioner for internal security and home affairs, Samuel Aruwan. Aruwan also reported that investigations into the attack to ascertain the number of victims.
Residents in the area told journalists that the criminals took their captives to an unknown destination.
As criminals continue to attack students in the northern region of the country, security operatives foiled an attempt by kidnappers to abduct students at Government Science Secondary School, Ikara, Premium Times reports.
Samuel Aruwan, the state commissioner for internal security confirmed the development at a press briefing in Kaduna.
He said the bandits stormed the college in an attempt to kidnap the students but were repelled by security operatives who were alerted by people of the community.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that bandits released five students abducted from the Federal College of Forestry Mechanisation, Afaka in Kaduna state.
Ten out of the 39 students kidnapped from the school have regained freedom with the latest development.
Five students earlier released by the bandits on Monday, April 5, were taken to a military hospital for health evaluation.
