It seems money alone cannot solve kidnappers' problems. This time, they have started accepting foodstuff as part of ransom payment.
Kidnappers, according to Daily Trust now demand bags of rice, noodles, and condiments as part of the payment in Abuja.
This new concept is now in full force in Kiyi and Anguwar Hausawa communities in Kuje and Abaji area councils.
Families of kidnapped victims were asked to bring these items along with the ransom.
A relative of a kidnap victim in Kiyi village, simply identified as Joshua, said he was forced to buy some of these items.
He said:
“Other family members did the same thing before their kidnapped relatives were released. If you fail to buy those things and take only the cash to them, they will collect it and still hold the victim until you get the foodstuff for them.”
