Oliver De Coque: Google Celebrates Late Musician's Posthumous Birthday with Doodle Designed by Nigerian Artist

Late Nigerian musician, Oliver De Coque, may have left the world years ago but it has not stopped the celebration of his life and impact in the music scene.
Coque who is still credited as one of Africa's most prolific guitarist clocked the age of 74 on April 14 and he has been posthumously celebrated.
Google commissioned a talented Nigerian artist, Ohab TBJ, to illustrate a doodle in honour of the late musician who left the world in 2008.
Sharing a picture of the finished work, Ohab in an Instagram post submitted that it is a dream come true.
In her words:
"Ayyyyyeeeeeeeeeeeeee Darling, I illustrated a @google Doodle It's a doodle to commemorate the late Oliver De Coque, a Nigerian guitarist and one of Africa's prolific recording artist, on his birthday today. OMG This is one my dream project come true and I still can't believe it!!! Today I'm literally googling everything before the day ends."

Speaking about the inspiration behind the doodle in an interview with Google, Ohab said:
"Although I've always been familiar with Oliver De Coque's music, I did more research to try to understand the late artist more. I noticed, in particular, Oliver De Coque's love for the guitar, his energy while performing, his unique style of music, as well as his love for his tradition and culture - all of which inspired the Doodle art."

When asked by Legit's Adeyinka Odutuyo about how long it took to complete the project, Ohab said:
"We had a timeline, myself and Google. Everything happened within 5 weeks. From first sketches to progress draft to final illustration."
The artist also disclosed that she only had to carry out online research about the late musician to bring the doodle to life.
"Every research I did was online."
Meanwhile, fellow Nigerians have hailed Ohab for bringing the late musician to life with her illustration.
