Elaborate plans had been made to make the day a success; a luxurious venue at Silver Springs Hotel in Kampala had also been prepared for them to celebrate their reception after exchanging vows at the All Saints Cathedral Nakasero in the city.

However, the day that should have been the highlight of their lives turned into the worst nightmare after Christabella's husband-to-be vanished without trace on the evening of Friday, April 9, Daily Monitor reported.

By the time it was Saturday morning, Patrick's phone was off and his whereabouts could not be traced. A search for the groom immediately began and the wedding was also cancelled.

Her friends and family who were oblivious to Patrick's mysterious disappearance made their way into the Cathedral on Saturday only for them to go back home later.

Scared of the worst, Christabella filed a missing person report at Kasangati Police Station, Wakiso District and soon enough the authorities launched a mounted search for Patrick with his family hoping for the best but preparing for the worst.

However, two days later, the groom resurfaced and presented himself at Wandegeya Police Station in Kampala and said he was not missing.

"He said he was stressed. He didn’t have a reason why he didn’t want to marry Ms Banturaki. We later released him on police bond as investigations continue,” Luke Owoyesigyire, the Kampala Metropolitan Police said on Monday, April 12.

Patrick said he chose to sleep at a friend's place on Friday adding he was married to Christabella through a customary marriage.

The police boss said they are waiting for the lady to record a statement with the police to determine the next step in the case.
