Governor Hope Uzodinma on Sunday, April 11, insisted that Igbos are more united than any other ethnic nationality in Nigeria.
The Imo state governor made the declaration while welcoming his counterparts from other southeast states and stakeholders of the region to its first security summit.
The Punch reports that he explained that this was possible because of their shared struggle, chequered history and deep-rooted extended family traditions and brotherhood.
He went on to note that this makes their values, beliefs, commitment to a united Nigeria, beyond reproach, adding that no ethnic group in the nation is more organised than the Igbo.
Uzodinma speaking in Owerri, the Imo state capital explained that Igbos are major stakeholders in Nigeria as they constitute the second largest population of every city in the country.
He also advised the ethnic group to drop every activity that would reduce the high stake the region has in the country so as to produce the next president.
Vanguard also reports that ahead of the 2023 election, Uzodinma canvassed unity among all Igbo societies as a means of attaining political relevance.
He urged Igbo youths beating the drums of war to desist from such if other Nigerians are to take the ethnic group seriously.
According to him, disunity and selfishness amongst the Igbo were antitheses to political relevance being sought by the people in Nigeria.
The governor's comment is coming as he declared that Ndigbo wants justice, equity, fairness, and not Biafra.
Uzodinma made the comment while delivering his opening address on Sunday, April 11, at a southeast security meeting, in Owerri.
