Arsenal are reportedly to looking to beat West Ham United to the signature of Jesse Lingard this summer.
Lingard was shipped out on a season-long spell to West Ham during the winter transfer window in February.
The Englishman is currently enjoying the form of his life with the Hammers having scored eight times and bagged four assists during his short spell at the London Stadium.
His impressive display has seen him court interest from the Gunners, with SunSport reporting the north Londoners are weighing in on a move for the winger.
Tension for Arteta as Nigerian striker vows to destroy Arsenal in Europa League clash at the Emirates
However, they will have to contend with competition from West Ham, with David Moyes understood to be desperate to keep the United permanently.
But the player's current form will see the Red Devils demand a substantial amount of money for him from West Ham in a deal that could include Declan Rice.
With Moyes' side now caught in a catch22 situation, it has opened the door for Arsenal to join the race for the Englishman, with reports suggesting the Gunners' representatives said to have made inquiries.
It is understood the Mikel Arteta-tutored side was eyeing a move for Lingard in December before the star forward made the West Ham switch.
At the time, United were believed not to be keen to 'lend' Lingard to a club they felt would be a direct competitor for a place in the top four.
Further reports suggest Serie A giants AS Roma are also monitoring his situation at Old Trafford.
However, they are thought to be big outsiders in the race to land the player, with the England international understood to be keen to remain in the Premier League.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that senior Arsenal players have reportedly turned on Mikel Arteta for being blamed for the club's disappointing campaign this season.
The Gunners have endured one of their worst run of form this term, with the side currently rooted in midtable and no hope of sealing a Champions League place.
The north Londoners have racked up a paltry 42 points from 30 rounds of matches to sit 11th on the log.
