Good News for PDP as Party Wins Delta House of Assembly By-Election

- The PDP has won another elective position in Nigeria

- This follows the recent triumph of Jude Ogbimi in the Delta state House of Assembly by-election

- The APC came second in the election while the ADP clinched third position

There is another big win for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). This time, the win came in favour of Jude Ogbimi who was recently declared winner of Isoko North Constituency House of Assembly by-election, The Guardian reports.

The election was held on Saturday, April 10, in Delta state and this was necessitated following the death of the former majority leader of the House, Tim Owhefere.

Prof. Christopher Onosemuode of the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun (FUPRE), who is the returning officer for the by-election, made the result of the election known, Premium Times added.

He said Ogbimi scored 29,421 votes to emerge the winner while the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Emmanuel Tabuko, scored 2,543 votes to emerge second. The African Democratic Party (ADP) candidate, Agose Ogagaoghene, polled 66 votes to clinch the third position.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that as the Anambra gubernatorial election draws closer, political parties in the state are fine-tuning final strategies and well-calculated moves to emerge victorious in the much-talked-about poll.

One of those who is not only doing this but also confident of clinching the governorship seat in the state is the PDP.

Kola Ologbodiyan, the PDP's national publicity secretary, on Saturday, April 10, stated that there are some basic and evident facts that will help the party floor other political platforms in the coming election.

In another report, Ologbodiyan in a post by Vanguard boasted that at the moment, while other parties are still struggling to keep their promises to those who elected them, PDP-owned states in the southeast and other regions have moved forward with laudable developments.

He stated:

“While other parties are struggling under the weight of unfulfilled promises and misrule, our states are opening new development and investment frontiers in critical sectors, including agriculture, aviation, energy, power, healthcare, education, real estate manufacturing, and massive industrialisation.”

Also, Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers had expressed confidence in the PDP cruising to a massive victory in the coming election.

Addressing PDP leaders in the southeast on Monday, February 8, in Enugu, to reconcile Anambra stakeholders, Governor Wike said winning the governorship election was crucial to the PDP household.
