A young Nigerian boy, Philemon Igbokwe, has been rewarded with N340,000 after returning a new Android phone he found at an event in Port Harcourt, the Rivers state capital.

The disclosure was made by the chairman of the occasion, Emma Okah, who shared a photo of himself and the boy on Facebook.

According to Emma, the owner of the phone forgot it in the restroom. The cash reward was contributed by Emma and three other guests who were impressed with what the boy did.

Emma's post on Facebook read in part:

"I announced a cash reward of N50,000. while Hon Josiah Olu did N50,000 and Co-Chairman Dr John Bosco - $500. By this, Philemon Igbokwe will go home with N340,000 for returning a phone which if sold as a stolen item, would not make N40,000. I will appreciate any effort to reach him or his parents to enable us redeem our pledge.
"I am proud to Congratulate Philemon and his parents for the example he has shown that there are still young ones with integrity in our country. I pray God to uphold Philemon and his family in greatness, honour and success in life."

In a previous report by Legit.ng, a Nigerian man identified as Ezzy Emeka took to social media to narrate how a taxi driver in Abuja returned the phone he forgot in his car.

Emeka said the phone fell from his pocket when he boarded the taxi after the function he attended. He said he got worried all night long after realising that he had lost his phone.

According to him, he tried his line with another phone and the taxi driver picked up and told him that he had been trying how to return the phone to him.
