An even bigger statue of Christ is being constructed in southern Brazil near the city of Encantado. The new statue will be taller than the iconic statue that looks over the capital city of Rio de Janeiro.
The monolithic construction has been in progress since 2019 and is scheduled to be completed later this year.
This statue will be named Christ the Protector and once it is completed it will be one of the tallest statues of Christ on the planet, towering a massive 43 metres tall according to eNCA.
Like the statue over Rio, Christ the Redeemer, this statue will mirror the iconic pose with arms outstretched according to The South African.
The statue of Christ the Redeemer is 30 metres tall and was completed in 1931 and has become synonymous with the country of Brazil.

In other news, a Nigerian man identified as Segun Akano is the only artist in the country that makes sculptures with screws.
Speaking with Legit TV, he said he decided to make sculptures with screws because he wanted to be identified with something unique.
According to Akano, the idea came to him in the middle of the night and he immediately acted on it.
Akano later found out that artists in other countries were also executing the idea.
He said Nigeria has not got to a point where art is totally accepted, adding that he wants artists to be more appreciated in the country.
It came to me in the middle of the night - Nigerian artiste reveals why he makes sculptures with screws
In his words:
"One thing I would like the artists to do for themselves - not to cheapen themselves. I know that it can be difficult sometimes, artists need money and all that, especially people that paint portraits of prominent people out there and begging them with their work. So they kind of look down on artists."
