Traffic Violation: Naval Ratings Attack LASTMA Official for Arresting Commercial Bus Driver

Some unnamed naval ratings have attacked an official of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) and left him injured for apprehending the driver of a commercial Volkswagen bus.
This was revealed in a statement released by the special adviser to the Lagos governor on transport, Oluwatoyin Fayinka, on Friday, April 9, The Punch reported.
Legit.ng gathers that eyewitnesses said the bus obstructed the flow of traffic at Onipanu inward Fadeyi on the Ikorodu Road.
The vehicle was later tracked down at Fadeyi inward Jibowu by a LASTMA team after the driver tried to evade arrest.
A source whose name was not disclosed said the driver stopped in the middle of the road to discharge passengers at Fadeyi under the cover of Naval Ratings on escort, PM News also reported.
When the commercial vehicle was eventually apprehended by LASTMA team for contravening the Lagos state traffic law, the naval ratings alighted from the bus and attacked the LASTMA official.
They also made away with three Android phones belonging to the LASTMA.
Legit.ng gathers that the apprehended commercial vehicle is now in LASTMA custody.

Meanwhile, there was chaos on Thursday, February 25, as a man who was driving against traffic hit a policeman off a bridge in Lagos.
The incident caused serious gridlock along the bridge as the driver was forced to stop his vehicle while pedestrians and a LASTMA official tried to contain the situation.
The rather tragic development was captured in a brief video clip which went viral on social media.
Sunday Okodo, the driver of a Sports Utility Vehicle inẹolẹed the incident has been indicted. He was arraigned before the Yaba magistrate court on Thursday, February 25, for driving in the direction prohibited by law (one-way).
