BREAKING: Sad Day for Nigerian Army as Gunmen Kill Top Officer, 10 Soldiers

The Nigerian Army has said that not less than 11 military officers attached to Operation Whirl Stroke were killed in an unprovoked attack by strange gunmen in the Konshisha local government area of Benue state.
According to the force on its Facebook page on Friday, April 9, the deceased, an officer and 10 soldiers were on a routine operational task in the area when they were attacked.

The army said at first, the military personnel were feared to have been kidnapped but were later discovered dead.
Part of a statement on this sad development released by the NA's spokesman, Brigadier General Mohammed Yerima, read:
"The search and rescue team unfortunately found all the missing troops dead in Konshisha LGA of Benue State. While the bodies of the slain troops were evacuated immediately, efforts are ongoing to track down the perpetrators of this heinous crime with a view to bringing them to Justice.
"The NA under the leadership of the COAS Lt Gen Ibrahim Attahiru remains resolute in ensuring stability in Benue State as well as other parts of the country that are affected by the activities of criminal gangs.
"The NA remains determined to ensure that this unprovoked attack does not disrupt the general peace being enjoyed by the local inhabitants."
Yerima said the army has ordered commanders to go after the attackers and bring them to face justice.
Meanwhile, about two Cameroonian soldiers were killed in a 40-minute gunfight with Boko Haram terrorists on Saturday, March 20, in northeastern Borno state.
The insurgents attacked the soldiers outside the town of Wulgo, a known Boko Haram hideout. The Cameroonian troops were deployed to Nigeria from across the border to assist following an attack launched by the insurgents.

Three other Cameroonian soldiers and one Nigerian soldier were also injured in the fight.
