Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) star Mike Edwards is among those competing for the medal at the ongoing National Sports Festival in Edo state capital, Benin, The Nation reports.

The Pepper Dem ex-housemate will be competing in the men’s high jump for Team Rivers, three years after he emerged as a winner in the 2018 edition of the sports event.

Edwards represented Delta state in Abuja but due to the reduction in numbers of athletes as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, he was unable to be part of the state's team, hence his decision to compete for Rivers state.

The permanent secretary Ministry of Sports, Honor Sirawoo, who said the state was ready to go all the way to the title revealed that it was a coup for the state as they were able to secure the services of the 2018 winner of the event.

Sirawoo said:

"Edwards will be the face of Rivers State at this year’s festival. He will be competing for our state and we are expecting him to defend his title won in 2018 during the last festival in Abuja."

In other news, BBNaija 2020 housemate, Nengi, was among those in the entertainment industry who came out to show support for comedian, Ayo Makun, for the 2021 edition of his comedy show.

The reality star alongside AY and Brodda Shaggi gave an interesting performance on stage and some lines rendered by Nengi have caught the attention of many.
