BREAKING: Sad Day as Another House Of Reps Member Dies at 53
- The House of Representatives has lost yet another member, Suleiman Aliyu
- Aliyu, the member representing Lere Federal Constituency of Kaduna state died on Tuesday, April 6, after a brief illness
- Another federal lawmaker from Plateau state, Haruna Maitala, had earlier died on Friday, April 2

Suleiman Aliyu, a member of the House of Reps representing Lere Federal Constituency of Kaduna state has died.
Daily Trust reported that the lawmaker died after a brief illness at Barau Dikko Hospital, Kaduna, in the early hours of Tuesday, April 6.
The newspaper stated that Aliyu's colleague, Mukhtar Ahmed representing Kaduna South Federal Constituency, confirmed the death.
His death brings to six the number of House of Reps members that have died since December 2019.
Legit.ng gathers that Aliyu had recently won his case at the Court of Appeal which reinstated him as both the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the winner of the February 23, 2019, House of Representatives election for Lere Federal Constituency.
Aliyu's death follows that of Haruna Maitala, the member representing Bassa constituency, Jos North, Plateau state who died on Friday, April 2, Daily Nigerian also reported.
Maitala was involved in a fatal car accident. The deceased lawmaker was on his way to Jos for his first son’s wedding when the accident happened. His son, a legislative aide and his driver also lost their lives in the accident.
The lawmaker's death was announced in a statement released by his media consultant, Joseph Adudu.

Similarly, Yuguda Hassan Kila, a member representing Gwaram Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives died in the afternoon of Thursday, March 4, at the age of 70.
He breathed his last at the National Hospital, Abuja after a brief illness. Kila was chairman of the House Committee on Customs.
In 2015, he was elected member of the House of Representatives on the platform of the ruling All Progressive Congress, to represent Gwaram Constituency. He was re-elected for the same position in the 2019 general elections.
