I Want Davido to Rock It, Meet Designer Who Created Viral ‘E Choke' Outfit, Says Singer’s Manager Has Reacted

A young and talented Nigerian fashion designer, Owolola Olusile, recently went viral in the online community after a Twitter user, @aremupokpoki1, shared photos of his latest design on the social media platform.
In an exclusive chat with Legit.ng, the designer opened up about what inspired him to design the outfit which has now gained a reputation as a visual representation of Davido’s popular catchphrase, ‘e choke’.
Olusile said it all happened while he was at his factory thinking about the next pieces to design for the second quarter of the year.
“I was at my factory thinking of new designs for Q2 and the popular phrase came to mind. As someone who enjoys Davido’s music, I decided to sketch out how I was visualizing the phrase artistically. After several edits with the graphic design, the final look was created.
According to the designer, some of his team members initially laughed at the idea before they set to work. He, however, said that they all had a change of mind after the final result was achieved.
"Yes! When I was done with the pencil sketch, my workers initially laughed at the idea and thought it would be too difficult to achieve, but when the graphic design was finalized, it started to make sense to them."

Fielding a question about getting noticed in the industry, Olusile noted that the viral moment he is currently experiencing is a result of preparation and God’s grace.
In his words:
"I’m a very spiritual person and I do not believe anything just happens by chance. Often times people believe working hard or working smart gets you the recognition that you need. While this is very true, I’m very sure a whole lot of people work harder or smarter as the case may be. So, I think getting noticed was preparation (consistency) meeting God’s grace. I also think my creativity, artistic skills and sharp sense of business, as well as my excellent interpersonal skills, contributed immensely to getting noticed."
The fashion designer also disclosed that Davido’s manager, Asa Asika, reacted to the viral photos of the outfit.
He said:
"So far, just Asa Asika( Davido's manager) has reacted to this, I think he found it funny, but nobody has reached out to me yet. It is possible no other person on the team has seen the design yet as it only started trending 24 hours ago. However, I would be interested in designing outfits for Davido and his team."

On a final note, the ‘e choke’ designer also disclosed that he initially had plans of sending the outfit to Davido. He, however, noted that he couldn’t do so because he didn’t have access to the singer.
“Yes! Actually, that was in the plans from the jump! We wanted to have Davido wear our brand. But “as connect to Davido no dey!” We decided to push the outfit ourselves and see if we could get his attention. We would be super glad to design for the DMW crew and for any other individuals who found the outfit appealing.”
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously gathered the report of a young man identified as Jide Sanya who graduated from Afe Babalola University with a First Class degree.
Sanya in a Twitter post, celebrated his academic feat as he recounted how he dropped out of school in England due to lack of funds. The young man revealed that after a GoFundMe was set up for him, Davido was among those who contributed in raising funds for him. The singer reacted to the post, expressing how happy he was for Sanya.
