Kelechi Iheanacho and 3 Other Nigerians Who Have Won Premier League Player Of The Month Award

Following his impressive performances so far this season in the Premier League, Super Eagles forward Kelechi Iheanacho was on Friday, March 2, named as the best player for the month of March.
This will be the first time in his career that Kelechi Iheanacho will be winning this award thanks to the five Premier League goals he scored for Leicester City in March.
This latest achievement by Kelechi Iheanacho means that he is now the fourth Nigerian player in history that will win the Premier League player of the month award.
Wilfred Ndidi is also doing great at Leicester City while Alex Iwobi has been impressive for Everton this season in the Premier League.
Below are the other Nigerian players who have won the best Premier League award
1. Austin Okocha
The former Super Eagles captain was the first Nigerian ever to win the award and he won it in 2003 when he was playing for Bolton.
2. Osaze Odemwingie
Odemwingie was superb at West Brom which helped him to win the award first in September 2010 and he went on to win it two more times.
3. Odion Ighalo
And the third Nigerian to pick up the award before did was former Super Eagles striker Odion Ighalo at Watford.
Ighalo who had helped Watford gain promotion to the Premier League got the award in December 2015.

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Kelechi Iheanacho was named as the best Premier League player for the month of March thanks to his superb performances for Leicester City in all competitions.
Kelechi Iheanacho was in superb form for Leicester City in March however beat the likes of Harry Kane, Luke Shaw, Riyad Mahrez to win the prestigious award.
In March, Kelechi Iheanacho scored five goals for Leicester City who are currently occupying third position on the Premier League table.
According to the Premier League club, Kelechi Iheanacho explained that he is happy to have won the Premier League best player award and stated that will continue to do his best for the side.
Kelechi Iheanacho joined Leicester City from Manchester City in 2017 and the Nigerian has so far played 87 games for the Foxes netting 15 goals.
He will hope to continue his superb form on Saturday when Leicester City face his former club Manchester City on Saturday, March 3.
