Soludo Narrates How He Was Attacked by Unknown Armed Men in Anambra

A former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has revealed that the recent attack on him by armed men lasted for more than 10 minutes.
Soludo, a gubernatorial aspirant under the All Progressives Grand Alliance in the forthcoming Anambra governorship election, made the revelation on Thursday, April 1, while speaking to Channels Television.

His words:
“When it was all over, it took several minutes, 10 or 15 minutes of continuous gun battles going back and forth of stopping, starting again.
“By the time we all came back, we saw three bodies lying in the pool of their blood. They were the three policemen. May God grant their soul eternal rest.
“At first I thought, maybe the policemen were shooting in the air. Until I began to hear people screaming and all of that and everybody just scampered for safety.
“Just as I was about to wrap up the town hall meeting and said finally for them now to open up for comments and answers, there were gunshots.”
While commiserating with the families of the slain officers, Soludo promised to support them.
He described the attack as senseless, noting that no political office should be worth the blood of a chicken, how much human life.
Soludo also prayed for the quick release of the Anambra state commissioner for public utilities, Emeka Ezenwanne, who was abducted during the attack.
Legit.ng had earlier reported that unknown gunmen attacked Soludo, killing three policemen guarding him.
The incident took place in Soludo's hometown in Isuofia, Aguata local government area of Anambra state during a meeting with the youths of the community.
Meanwhile, the Anambra state police command, says it has arrested one suspect in connection with the attack on Soludo.
The news of the arrest was contained in a statement issued on Thursday, April 1, by the spokesman of the command, DSP Ikenganya Tochukwu, and seen by Legit.ng.
According to the statement, the state commissioner of police, Monday Bala Kuryas, led a crack team of police operatives for an on-the-spot assessment of the venue of the incident on the day it happened on Wednesday, March 31.
