Dare-Devil Armed Robbers Attack Delta Bank with Bullets, Dynamites, Kill Police Inspector, 2 Others

- A deadly armed robbery gang has launched an attack on a new generation bank in Delta state

- A policeman and two others were killed by the robbers after engaging them in a gun duel

A police inspector and two others were shot dead on Tuesday, March 30, when dare-devil armed robbers raided the Issele-Uku branch of a new generation bank in Delta state, Daily Trust reported.

Legit.ng gathers that the robbers attacked the bank with bullets and dynamites before launching another assault on a police station in the community.

They drove away in two vehicles with an undisclosed sum of money.

A member of the gang of robbers was said to have been killed during the shootout with policemen.

Reacting, the spokesperson of the Delta state police command, DSP Edafe Bright, confirmed the incident, adding that the gang’s operational vehicle and one AK47 rifle were recovered by the police team.

He explained dynamites were used by the hoodlums to destroy the security doors of the banking hall, after which they made away with an undisclosed amount of money.

Bright added that the robbers simultaneously attacked a police station.

Patrol teams from the State Police Headquarters Asaba were quickly mobilised to Issele-Uku and engaged the robbers in a gun duel.

The police spokesperson said:

“The hoodlums escaped in two vehicles but were chased and consequently, they abandoned their vehicles and escaped into the bush. However, an Inspector of Police, Anioma Security Watch vigilante member and a civilian died while one of the hoodlums was killed and their vehicles recovered. Also recovered is one AK47 rifle breech No. 9558 with empty magazine painted with Police colour."

The Punch in its version of the report stated that the gunmen killed a police officer, a vigilante leader and four others.

He appealed to members of the public with useful information that will aid the arrest of the robbers to make such information available to the commissioner of police.

In another report, Nigerian online comedian Mad Johny was recently a victim of house burglary and has taken to social media to share his experience.

The Instagram skit maker took to his official Instagram page of over 200,000 followers to recount how he had woken up the night before to discover his home had been broken into and his phone and 25 litres of fuel stolen.
