2023: Tinubu's Presidential Bid Gets Massive Support From Northern Governors, Stakeholders

A report by the Nigerian Tribune indicates that the presidential bid of a former governor of Lagos state, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has received a massive boost in the last few weeks.

According to the report, key stakeholders in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) have been subtly declaring their support for Tinubu ahead of the 2023 presidential election.

More importantly for the APC national leader, a number of northern governors are favourably disposed to his ambition.

Already, Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano state has not hidden his support for Tinubu as the former Lagos state governor was accorded a royal reception in the northwest state recently, where he is birthday lecture was also held.

Sources quoted in the report also indicated that his aspiration of Tinubu enjoys the support of Aminu Bello Masari, the governor of Katsina, the home state of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Not too long ago, former deputy Minority Chief Whip of the Senate and stalwart of the APC from Katsina state, Senator Abu Ibrahim, canvassed for support for Tinubu during the inauguration of Bola Tinubu Support Organisation held in Abuja, saying he could vouch for him.

Similarly, a former Secretary to Niger state government, who presided at the inauguration of the group, Professor Mohammed Kuta Yahaya, charged Nigerians to support Tinubu.

Feelers also showed that Tinubu’s aspiration enjoys the favourable disposition of the governor of Borno state, Babagana Zulum, who recently declared that it was imperative power rotates to the South in the interest of equity and fairness.

Meanwhile, another report by the Nigerian Tribune indicates that both the APC and main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are temporarily in cul-de-sac over the battle for their presidential ticket.

According to the report, the major stakeholders in both parties are engaged in an intense power struggle on the zoning, a principle that has become an expedient stabilising factor in the politics of the country.

In a related development, Tinubu has revealed that the choice of Kano state as a venue for his birthday lecture was to establish the fact that the Fulanis and Yoruba people can co-exist in love and peace.

The respected politician said his choice of Kano as a celebration venue stems from a longing to unite the two ethnic groups.

In another development, discrepancies in the Wikipedia page of Tinubu stirred huge reactions on social media recently.

The actual age of the former Lagos state governor was a subject of debate on social media with many calling attention to the number of times the page has been edited.
