A statement sent to Legit.ng by VP Osinbajo's spokesman, Laolu Akande, quoted the emir as saying:
“Your visit today affirms the commitment of the federal government under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari and the support that you give our people.
“I would like to commend the federal government for its compelling efforts towards the economic development of our people especially in the area of agriculture and small-scale businesses. Gombe is an agrarian state and also a hub of trade and commerce in the northeast.
“I believe what you see today will avail you the opportunity to see firsthand, the impact and nature of our people and the numerous successes of our businesses. We are on board with the National Livestock Transformation Plan which you chair.
“Your presence here today is in line with your role as the “economic driver” of the country. Through your role as the chairman of the National Economic Council, you have spearheaded important reforms in the area of ease of doing business, enhancing ICT innovation, as well as economic policies to reduce the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“This demonstrates your own role in the Buhari administration and a lot of confidence that Mr. President reports on you.
“We in the north are closely following your steady achievements; first as a successful legal professor, a religious leader, and now as the vice president of Nigeria.
“We are studying your humility and grace; we appreciate you and we pray for more success in your journey.”
Meanwhile, a recent article by The UK Guardian has hailed the impact and influence Osinbajo has had on the government and Nigeria as deputy to Buhari since 2015.
In the piece titled, Osinbajo defies expectations as Nigeria’s vice-president, the respected UK media group noted that Osinbajo has spearheaded many impactful projects under the Buhari administration.
Recall that a renowned Nigerian economist, Bismarck Rewane, recently declared that having a public office holder with intellectual depth like Osinbajo is refreshing.
Rewane, the managing director of Financial Derivatives Co. Ltd, made the comment on Monday, March 8 at a special public lecture in commemoration of the vice president's 64th birthday in Abuja, the Nigerian capital.
