Zulum Stops His Convoy to Assist Women Fetching Firewood, Photos Stir Massive Reactions on Social Media

Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno state on Monday, March 29, stopped his convoy to assist some women and girls who were fetching firewood by the roadside in the Monguno area of the northeastern state.

Firewood is the major energy source for cooking and heating among rural households in the insurgency-ravaged area, Daily Trust noted.

In some of the viral photos, the Borno state governor was seen surrounded by his security aides who helped some of the women.

The governor's action has earned him the admiration of some Nigerians as photos of the incident continue to trend on social media.

Nevertheless, some people also criticised the governor, suggesting that his action may be politically-motivated.

Christian Okwori commended the governor as he also advised him to train and provide them with clean affordable renewable energies.

Meanwhile, members of the Borno state House of Assembly have put to rest the speculations of their plans to impeach Governor Zulum over alleged infractions.

Legit.ng gathered that the members, during a special sitting, on Friday, March 26, eulogised Governor Zulum during which they took turns to debunk the claims of impeachment.

The lawmakers, however, said contrary to the news making the rounds, they did not initiate any impeachment inquiry against the governor.
