Former Super Eagles captain Nwankwo Kanu has saluted the Nigerian team for their brilliant away win in Cotonou against Benin Republic in 2022 African Cup of Nations qualifiers.

At the last edition of the African Cup of Nations in Egypt, Nigeria were defeated by Algeria in the semifinal, but the Super Eagles went on to beat Tunisia in the third place match.

The encounter saw the Super Eagles ending Benin Republic's eight-year unbeaten run coming to an end as Paul Onuachu's goal gave the three-time African champions the win.
Super Eagles have also qualified for the 2022 African Cup of Nations championship in Cameroon even though they have one game left to play in the qualifiers against Lesotho.
