The Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF) has cautioned Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano state against turning the Government House into a venue for the birthday party of the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), BolaAhmed Tinubu.

In a statement issued by the national president of the group, Yerima Shettima, on Friday, March 26, and seen by Legit.ng, the AYCF frowned at the choice of Kano Government House as the only place in the north for celebrating Tinubu’s birthday.

Shettima said the plan is an insult to the symbol of authority that the Government House has been to the Kano people for decades.

He said Tinubu kept quiet while northerners were under attack in Oyo and some parts of the southwest.

Shettima said:

“While people from Ganduje’s northern Nigeria were being maimed, Tinubu kept mute even when northerners’ assets were being destroyed in some parts of the southwest. In the guise of hunting down imaginary herdsmen, he could not even condemn the violence. Yet, this is shamelessly the special guest for Ganduje in Kano Government House."

The AYCF, however, urged Ganduje not to allow himself to be used as the only governor in the north to avail a whole symbol of authority for a private citizen’s birthday party.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that the Arewa Mandate Initiative (AMI) tipped the national leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and a former governor of Rivers states, Rotimi Amaechi as potential successors of President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.

It was reported that the group said the endorsement was in line with the gentleman agreement reached by the leaders of the party at the formative stage in 2015.
