Genk striker Paul Onuachu has rubbished reports that he was livid after being put on Super Eagles standby list by coach Gernot Rohr for the games against Lesotho and Benin Republic.
Despite netting 27 goals in all competitions so far this season for his Belgian club, Paul Onuachu was not selected in the first list made by Super Eagles coach Rohr.
His exclusion caused reactions among football lovers with many asking Gernot Rohr the rationale that made him pick Ahmed Musa over Onuachu.
Gernot Rohr was attacked by fans who claimed that Ahmed Musa should have been the one on the standby list and not Paul Onuachu.
But after Almeria striker Sadiq Umar pulled out of the AFCON qualifiers, Gernot Rohr replaced him with Paul Onuachu.
While speaking with Brila, Paul Onuachu explained that he was not disappointed for being left out of the first list claiming that he will continue to respect the decision of Rohr.
“I did not feel disappointed, because I already spoke to the Coach, he called me and he told me that I’ve been amazing at my Club and he gave me reasons, which I understand because of course we have a lot of football players all over the World.
''When he explained I told him I’ll keep working hard and he is the Coach and knows what’s best for the team; it’s your decision and I thoroughly understand why I was not on the first list.''
Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Nigerian goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi explained that he is not worried about not being invited by coach Gernot Rohr for Super Eagles' next two games against Benin and Lesotho.

They are Maduka Okoye, Francis Uzoho and Enyimba number one goalie John Noble who got the call-up based on his team's superb performances in CAF competitions.
