It has been reported that Nicki Minaj’s mother has filed a civil lawsuit against the man who has been accused of being involved in the hit-and-run accident that took her father’s life, Charles Polevich.

The $150 million (N57 billion) suit was filed by Carol Maraj’s legal team on Friday, March 19. Robert Maraj was killed in a hit-and-run by a car that was said to have been driven by Charles.

Nassau County Police Department claims that Charles did hit Nicki’s father. He apparently checked to see if Robert was okay and then fled the scene despite his condition.

“He got out of the car and he looked at the deceased, got into his car, and made the conscious decision to leave instead of dialling 911, instead of calling an ambulance for the man. He went home and secluded the vehicle. He’s well aware of what he did.” Nassau County Police Detective Lt. Stephen Fitzpatrick reported.

Aside from what was reported by USA Today, Carol’s attorney, Ben Crump, confirmed the lawsuit on social media, letting the public know just how he and the family feel about Charles being confirmed to have been at fault:

“Paul Napoli and I have filed a $150 million lawsuit in the hit-and-run death of Robert Maraj, @NICKIMINAJ's father. Charles Polevich was not only irresponsible and negligent in hitting Maraj, but was more concerned about running away and hiding than seeking help.”

Legit.ng previously reported that the police started a search to hunt down the man who caused the accident that killed Nicki’s father.

The man eventually handed himself over to the authorities according to a report by TMZ. The police arrested Charles Polevich, who is 70 years old. He has been charged with two felonies.

The first is for leaving the scene of the crime that involves the death of a person and the second is for tampering with crucial evidence.
