The Prussians sporting director Max Eberl has been watching Alonso as the new manager at the club a few months from now according to The Mirror quoting German news platform Bild and Sport Bild. He told ZDF:
"I'm looking for a new coach for the summer, so I've been on the road very, very intensively for the last three weeks.
"I had very, very many and good conversations. I am on the right track, we had a selection of candidates that we have dealt with. With the focus we are already on the home straight - we have a clear vision."
The World Cup winner has been in charge of Real Sociedad’s ‘B Team’ since 2019 having previously spent a year coaching in Real Madrid’s youth ranks.
He led La Real’s second string to a fifth-place finish in Spain’s Segunda Division B Group 2 in 2019-2020 - one of the sub-divisions in Spain's third tier - and they currently top that league this term, after a 2-1 win at Athletic Bilbao B on Sunday.
Alonso spent the final three years of his playing career in Germany with Bayern, winning the German title three times in succession and also the German Cup in 2016.
Legit.ng earlier reported that Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski scored his side's third goal in their 3-1 win over Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga on Saturday, March 13.
Leon Goretzka and Serge Gnabry had scored the first two goals for the reigning champions before Lewandowski added the icing on the cake in the 67th minute to make it 3-0.
Although Bremen pulled one back just four minutes before the end of the encounter, it proved to be a mere consolation as the visitors ran away with all three points.
