APC Tackles PDP, Reveals why Opposition Party Was Defeated in 2015

- The APC has reacted to the PDP's criticism of the Buhari-led government following the rise of Nigeria's unemployment rate to 33.3%

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has attacked the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), saying subsidy rackets, employment scams, impunity and other forms of corruption caused the party's defeat in 2015, Daily Trust reported.

PDP's spokesperson, Kola Ologbondiyan, had in a statement on Tuesday, March 16, said the report by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) report which puts Nigeria's unemployment rate at 33.3% confirmed that the Buhari administration's job creation claim is a hoax.

However, responding in a statement on Wednesday, March 17, the secretary of the APC Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee, John James Akpanudoedehe, said the Buhari-led government does not condone thieves within and outside government.

He partly blamed the job loss on the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic just as he claimed that President Muhammadu Buhari showed leadership in cushioning the effects of the virus.

Akpanudoedehe added that the Buhari-led federal government would not spare or condone looters of public funds within and outside government, Vanguard also reported.

The APC scribe said no government in the country’s history has systematically put in place measures to create jobs and alleviate poverty like the Buhari government.

He said the proactive and successful implementation of the N2.3 trillion Economic Sustainability Plan (ESP) had not only stimulated the economy and prevented business collapse, but had also created jobs.

In other news, the APC is set to face a huge challenge as opposition political groups and some other stakeholders have regrouped to displace the ruling party in 2023.

The coalition which is under the aegis of the National Consultative Front (NCF) consists of eminent Nigerians.

To achieve this, the group has also inaugurated a merger committee to negotiate a possible merger with other existing political parties across the country.
