Kaduna Government Orders Closure of Schools, Discloses Reason For Directive

The Kaduna state government has ordered the closure of all public and private schools in Kajuru council of the state.
According to The Nation, the government gave the order following series of attempts to kidnap primary and secondary school pupils.
The directive was reportedly issued in a memo by Abigail Adze, the director of quality assurance authority.
The memo stated that the schools should not reopen until they are directed to do so.
The memo read:
The Director-General, Kaduna State Schools Quality Assurance Authority, has directed me to inform all Principals and Proprietors of both public and private schools in Kajuru local government area to close down all schools with immediate effect.
“No school should re-open until you are directed to do so. Be security conscious at all times.''
This Day reported that the state government also relocated pupils of schools prone to attacks by bandits to safer schools.
Meanwhile, the two female students of the Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ago-Iwoye abducted by armed bandits have regained their freedom.
The Ogun state police command confirmed their release to Channels Television on Tuesday night, March 16.
The police spokesman in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi, noted that the students, identified as Adeyemo Precious and Oyefule Abiola, returned unhurt.
In another report, unknown gunmen have abducted a Catholic priest identified as Harrison Prhinyovaw in Delta state.
The News Agency of Nigeria reported that the priest was said to have been abducted at about 8pm on Monday, March 15 at a bad spot in Abraka, Ethiope East local government area of the state.
He is said to be in charge of St. John’s Catholic Church, Obinomba in Ukwuani local government area of Delta state.
Still on security, the Zamfara state police command has redeployed its Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Kaura-Namoda following allegations of conniving with bandits terrorising the area.
Mohammed Shehu, the command’s spokesman, in a statement on Monday, March 16 announced the transfer of the unnamed DPO.
The Cable reported that before the transfer, residents in the area had accused the DPO of working with bandits to terrorise their area.
