Kanye West has now tied with legendary rapper Jay-Z for the most Grammy wins by a hip hop artiste after his 22nd Grammy win.

This happened during the 63rd edition of the Grammy Awards which finally went down on Sunday, March 14, after weeks of uncertainty.

Kanye's 2020 gospel album Jesus Is King took home the award for Best Contemporary Christian Album, making it his 22nd award, same as Jay's.

The Heartless hitmaker's prize was given ahead of the non-televised portion of the broadcast which also featured wins for H.E.R and as well as Blue Ivy Carter.

Blue, Beyoncés' eldest daughter, took home her first-ever Grammy Award for Best Music Video after appearing on Brown Skin Girl with her mother and Nigerian star Wizkid.

Beyoncé could not be left behind as she also picked another Grammy for Best R&B Performance for Black Parade.

The couple, Jay and Beyoncé, also made a surprise appearance at the award show with their young daughter Blue, immediately stealing the spotlight.

Kanye Vs Grammy

The rapper, who is in a divorce battle with his wife Kim Kardashian, did not have the best relationship with Grammys back in 2020 after sharing a video while urinating on one of his gramophones.

The star left many fans in disbelief when he posted a video of himself literally urinating on one of his Grammy awards in a toilet bowl, back in mid-September 2020.

He made it clear on the app that he wanted to be freed from all his recording contracts.

The billionaire rapper revealed he won't release new music until he is freed from his contracts with Sony/ATV Music Publishing and Universal.

He shared numerous pages of documents of his contracts with the record labels with an aim to prove that he was going to do anything to get out of the contracts.

To show that he was serious about not being interested in music any more, he shared a video of himself urinating on one of his Grammy awards which was placed in a toilet.

He was sure to continue and then made a promise that he had more ideas to make them cave.

"I wonder if Universal gonna call me. I promise I have more ideas. I will not stop I promise you on God," he wrote.
