Channels TV quoted him as saying:
“We served in so many parliamentary organizations within and outside the country and I have never found him wanting.
“So when he was given the judgement to be the governor of Imo state, I just thought Imo will be taken to the next level by the grace of God.”
The Yobe-born politician also wooed people from the south-eastern part of the country to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to him, joining the APC will enable Igbos to have a say in national politics.
His words:
“The APC administration of President Muhammadu Buhari is so liberal and forthcoming to support every part of Nigeria to make sure that Nigeria is evenly developed.
“What we are witnessing here in Imo will be replicated in Ebonyi. We hope, by the grace of God, Anambra is coming on board. We are expecting Abia to be on board and Gburugburu to bring Enugu on board.”
According to Senate Lawan, Nigeria should be a united country where progressives would provide leadership for the nation’s greatness.
Lawan also called on all Nigerians irrespective of political, ethnic, or religious differences to support the government in overcoming the nation’s challenges.
Meanwhile, Governor Uzodimma says his recent disagreement with ex-Governor Rochas Okorocha is because he refused to cover-up the former governor's illegalities while in office.
Uzodinma's claims were contained in a statement issued by his spokesman, Ogwuike Nwachukwu on Tuesday, March 9, and seen by Legit.ng.
The governor further stated that his refusal to shield Okorocha is why the former governor has been causing havoc in the state.
Meanwhile, Okorocha recently has described Uzodinma as a court-made governor who he accused of spending time in office empowering thugs in Imo state.
Addressing his supporters on Monday, February 22 in Owerri, the former governor accused Uzodinma of fanning the embers of disunity in the state through state-sponsored thugs.
