Anxiety in southwest as hoodlums kill 5 during attack on popular masquerader

Pandemonium broke out Oje area of Ibadan, Oyo state capital on Thursday, March 11, as hoodlums attacked a dreaded Ibadan masquerade, Oloolu.
Daily Trust citing Sahara Reporters as its source said no fewer than five youths lost their lives while many other people were injured during the incident.
According to the report, the hoodlums numbering about 100 armed with machetes, clubs, and cutlasses attacked masquerade while performing its annual rituals in the metropolis.
An eyewitness speaking to the online publication on Friday, March 12, in Ibadan, said that the hoodlums struck when the rites were almost completed.
Oba Wahab Ajijola Anabi, the national president of Soludero Hunters Association and Iyaloja of Oje Market, Alhaja Oluwakemi Laaro Akala, confirmed the attack.
CSP Gbenga Fadeyi, the state police public relations officer, however, said he was yet to be briefed on the incident.
Armed robbers attack bank, reportedly kill five persons
Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that suspected armed robbers on Thursday, March 11, stormed Okuku town in Odo-Otin local government area of Osun state and invaded a new generation bank in the community.
The armed robbers arrived at the bank around noon shooting sporadically into the air to create fear and scare residents away for them to perpetrate their crime.
The state police command's spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola, confirmed the incident.
