Former Nigerian military ruler Abdulsalami, wife take COVID-19 vaccine, share photos

- Ex-military ruler Abdulsalami has joined the long line of prominent Nigerians to take the COVID-19 vaccine

A former military head of state of Nigeria, General Abdulsalami Abubakar (retired), has received his shot of the Astrazeneca COVID-19 vaccine.

Channels TV reports that Abdulsalami Abubakar received his first jab alongside his wife Justice Fati Abubakar at their hilltop residence in Minna, the Niger state capital on Friday, March 12.

In the pictures released of the event, Abubakar could be seen receiving his jab before filling his details in the COVID-19 certificate which he then displays for the cameras.

In an address during the event, Abdulsalami urged fellow citizens to take their COVID-19 doses because they had been confirmed safe for use.

Abubakar also urged Nigerians to keep following the necessary COVID-19 protocols like wearing masks and maintaining social distance to prevent the virus from spreading.

The former Nigerian ruler took his vaccine the same day as Lagos state governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Legit.ng reported that Sanwo-Olu received his first shot of the vaccine at the Infectious Diseases Hospital in Yaba and he tweeted the pictures.
