Spanish club Barcelona are reportedly looking to launch a bid for Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero as negotiations with Lionel Messi continues.
With the election of Joan Laporta as the new president of the club, Barcelona’s chances of getting Messi to extend his contract has improved.
The Argentine has been at the club since the age of 15 and reports say the player also voted Laporta who has also promised he would ensure Messi does not leave if he is elected.
Joan Laporta became the cub's president for a second time after sweeping more than half of the votes in the recently held elections.

However, there are no guarantees yet that the outcome of the election would secure Messi's future at the Camp Nou.
And now fresh reports claim the Catalan giants are preparing to launch bid for out-of-contract Sergio Aguero who is a close friend and international team-mate of Messi's - to persuade their star man to stay.
Sportsmail reported on Thursday that Aguero fears his Manchester City career is being allowed to fizzle out and is frustrated by a lack of clarity around his future.
The 33-year-old's future at Barcelona remains uncertain despite having about three months left on his current deal.
He tried forcing his way out of the Catalan club last August but made a U-turn to avoid legal battles with his employers.

Since then, clubs like Paris Saint Germain and Manchester City among others have been showing interest in him but nothing was heard of Los Blancos' move for him.
However, Legit.ng earlier reported that former Chelsea star Joe Cole has slammed officials who handled the PSG vs Barcelona Champions League cracker on Wednesday night, March 10.
The Argentine had a chance to put his side 2-1 ahead just before half-time of the encounter and had he scored, it would have been a different ball game- but he missed.
VAR stepped in and after several replays, the English officials Stuart Attwell and Paul Tierney told centre-referee Anthony Taylor there was no problem despite Varatti clearly well in the box before Messi took the kick.
