Ogun community writes Gov Abiodun, accuses armed herdsmen of killing village hunters

Residents of Okun-Owa community in the Odogbolu local government area of Ogun state have written a letter to the state governor, Dapo Abiodun, over the death of two hunters.
According to a report by The Punch, the corpses of the hunters were found on the Oko Agerige farm in Okun-Owa.
The letter was signed by the leader of the community, Asiwaju Sina Ogunbambo.

Parts of the letter read:
“Two hunters who did night hunting on Friday, March 5, 2021, did not return home the following day. A search party went to the forest and their shocking discovery was the corpses of the two young men.
“There were bullets lodged on the bodies of the deceased; cow dungs and footprints were also found. This made them conclude the perpetrators were herdsmen.”
Recall that armed herdsmen recently hacked a young woman, Elizabeth Pascal, to death in Ogun state.
The incident happened on Monday, March 1 at CAC Olorunda, Moriwi community of Imeko-Afon local government area of the state.
The deceased was said to have gone to the stream to fetch water for domestic use when she was murdered by the criminals.
Meanwhile, members of a vigilante group, hunters, and some youths have rescued seven people who were kidnapped by armed herdsmen in Akunu, Akoko northeast local government area of Ondo state.
The vigilantes rescued the kidnapped victims who were said to be travelling to Abuja when they were abducted on Friday, February 26, on Akunu Akoko-Kabba expressway.
The victims were allegedly taken into the bush by their abductors when the hunters and youths of the community stormed the scene which is familiar terrain to them and saved the victims, while one of the kidnappers was killed during a gunfight.
