Silas Adamu: Anguish, tears as prominent Nigerian, wife, daughter die in car accident

The secretary-general of the Medical and Health Workers’ Union of Nigeria, Comrade Silas Gadani Adamu, has been reported dead after being involved in a ghastly accident along the Kaduna-Abuja road.

Reliable sources also report that the auto crash also claimed the lives of Adamu's wife, on Monday, March 8.

It was gathered that the deceased's car which was on top speed rammed into a truck parked along the expressway.

Reporting the tragedy, Shehu Sani, a former Nigerian senator who represented Kaduna Central, said:

“Comrade Silas Adamu, his wife and daughter died in a road accident along Kaduna-Abuja Road yesterday. He ran into a truck.

"He was the Secretary-General of the Nigerian Medical Association and the President of the Southern Kaduna-based Atyap Community Development Association. A great loss. RIP.”

Meanwhile, Julius Olawunmi, a father to Olasunkanmi Olawunmi who was one of the seven victims of the recent fatal plane crash in Abuja, had expressed grief over the demise of the late flight sergeant, describing it as "a very great vacuum."

Speaking in an interview on Sunday, February 27, the 76-year-old Pa Olawunmi described his son as a "straightforward and decent" whose character "exemplified absolute honesty in all ramifications."

He said the flight sergeant joined the Nigerian Air Force in February 2002. According to him, the circumstance surrounding Olawunmi's death was terrible and disastrous.

On the effect of the Olawumi's death on the family, the father of the deceased said:

"My concern, which is my appeal, is how to take care of his wife and three children. I know I am the father; whatever is done to assist them will be appreciated. Olasunkanmi was one of the breadwinners of the family.
"All the children play different roles, none of them abandoned me. The vacuum created by his death is enormous."
