The Peoples Democratic Party in the southwest has rejected report plans of Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, planning a reconciliation meeting to resolve the political feud between Governor Seyi Makinde and former governor of Ekiti state, Ayo Fayose.
The southwest zonal director of media and publicity of PDP, Lere Olayinka, in a statement seen by Legit.ng, said Oyinlola, a former governor of Osun state, lacks the moral standard to reconcile the duo.
Olayinka stated that Oyinlola can't be a peacemaker because of his closeness to the Oyo state governor, hence there will be bias on his part.
Part of the statement read:
“To us, Prince Oyinlola is supposed to be Governor Seyi Makinde’s leader, but the reverse is the case now as he is painfully acting like Governor Makinde’s ‘appendage’ and also his contractor.
“Therefore, he has no moral preserve to be a peacemaker as peace can not be achieved when insincere people who are self-seekers sit at the table as peacemakers.”
Recall that Fayose had earlier denied plans to attend the reconciliation meeting with the Oyo state governor.
Both party leaders have been supporting different factions as they have nominated different men and women for party positions in the forthcoming zonal congress of the party in the southwest.
Efforts to reconcile the duo by the national body of the party continue to be futile as both men refuse to shift grounds.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that a group recently urged the PDP national headquarters to call Fayose to order, alleging that the former Ekiti state governor has plans to destroy the party in the southwest.
The group, Concerned Southwest Professionals (CSP), on Thursday, February 25, stated that Fayose's antics were capable of ruining the party in the zone.
The group said the former governor is on assignment in the southwest to create division within PDP in order to actualise the presidential ambition of his new godfather in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu.
