Nigerian governor orders compulsory recitation of Oodua anthem in all schools

All pupils and students in Ondo have been ordered to compulsorily recite the Oodua Anthem in their schools by the state government.
The Punch reports that Akin Asaniyan, the permanent secretary of the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology, made this known.
The newspaper sighted a copy of the circular, titled ‘Recitation of Oodua Anthem in all schools’, on Thursday, March 4, in Akure.
The governor's directive affects all the private and public institutions from primary to tertiary levels in the state.
He noted that henceforth it is to be recited by residents, students, and teachers in the state.
Governor Akeredolu of Ondo state sworn in for second term
Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that the governor of Ondo state, was on Wednesday, February 24, sworn-in for a second term after winning the last gubernatorial election.
Governor Akeredolu alongside his running mate, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, took the oath of office in Akure, the state capital on Wednesday.
The All Progressive Congressive (APC) southwest governor was accompanied by his wife, Betty Anyanwu Akeredolu and children.
Akeredolu bans NURTW, RTEAN from collecting revenues at parks
In a related development, Akeredolu, banned activities of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, (NURTW) and the Road Transport Employers’ Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) from all motor parks in the state.
Both unions were warned to stop collecting dues and levies from commercial drivers in the state.
Akeredolu, who spoke through his senior special assistant on special duties and strategy, Doyin Odebowale, said the ban of the driver unions’ activities was due to leadership tussles in Ondo state.
