Nigeria’s former president Goodluck Jonathan was spotted kicking off the Bayelsa Golf Tournament in Yenagoa, the capital of the state.
GEJ who served as the president of Nigeria between 2010 and 2015 has recently engaged himself in diplomatic assignments which spheres across Africa.
He wrote in his Facebook Page:
“This morning, I participated in the ceremonial tee off of the Governor's Cup at the Bayelsa Golf Tournament in Yenagoa Bayelsa State. I wish the players an exciting and fair competition.”
And six years after leaving office, he has continued to enjoy global honours having been presented with the African Peace and Security Leader of the Year 2020 award.
The award was organised by the African Leadership Magazine. He was honoured on Friday, February 26, at the 9th edition of the award ceremony.
The former president displayed his award on his Twitter handle and thanked the organisers for conferring him with the award.
Meanwhile, the rumour that a Goodluck Jonathan is planning to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC) to pursue a presidential ambition has been dismissed.
Jonathan has affirmed his loyalty to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), describing the party as an organization that carries people along.
It was gathered that that the former president made the statement at a thanksgiving service held to mark the one-year administration of Governor Douye Diri in Bayelsa state. He said"
“PDP has been a very friendly party, I am a member of PDP and I know from the beginning till today, it has been a very friendly party.
"PDP is a party that carries everybody along and we should extend that at Bayelsa State level, that starts it in Bayelsa State so that all those who are in the political process so that at the end of any political contestation for the governorship or any other office, let us work together for the interest of our people.”
Legit.ng earlier reported that former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Sunday, February 28 met with Kogi state governor Yahaya Bello behind closed doors in Abuja.
Details of the meeting were made available to the media by Governor Bello's aide Mohammed Onogwu.
According to the statement, Obasanjo charged Bello to keep with his good efforts at protecting his state.
