Breaking: Buhari orders security operatives to shoot anyone seen with AK-47

In order to rid the north of bandits terrorising the states, President Muhammadu Buhari has directed security agencies to shoot anyone seen with AK-47.

The Cable citing BBC Hausa as its source noted that Garba Shehu, a presidential spokesperson, made the disclosure.

Speaking in an interview with the news publication, Shehu said the Nigerian leader directed a clampdown on bandits who have refused to surrender.

According to him, the president ordered security forces to go into the bushes and shoot whoever they see with sophisticated weapons like AK-47 immediately.

He noted that the government is resorting to lethal force against bandits who have refused to surrender.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that the presidency finally lifted the lids on declaring Zamfara a no-fly zone and banning all mining activities in the northern state.

The senior special assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari, on media and publicity, made this revelation on Wednesday, March 3.

The presidential spokesman said the recent imposition followed a strong suspicion that arms were being flown to bandits with choppers.

Governor Obiano moves to arrest illegal, gun-wielding herders

In a related development, Anambra state government has started a move to chase out illegal and violent herdsmen from its borders.

Governor Willie Obiano on Tuesday, March 2, disclosed that the state has commenced a census and registration process for all herders in Anambra.

Obiano said after the exercise, itinerant cattle rearers will not be allowed to reside in the state or even given permission to pass through it to other regions.
